Beautiful and Bountiful Backyard Landscaping

Colorful flowers and uniquely shaped plants in a variety of sizes are what attract the eye. I know from experience that driving through a neighborhood, I tend to slow down and get wrapped up in the beauty of backyard landscaping. Since I myself have a boring, flat, and bare backyard, I truly appreciate the time and effort people put into making their yard a representation of themselves. Along with the fact that your backyard landscaping will entertain and relax you, your family and guests, it will also attract real-estate agents looking to find homes for their clients. So if you are trying to get your house on the market, having gorgeous backyard landscaping is a major bonus!

Where to Begin Backyard Landscaping

Begin by hiring a professional landscaper! There are many key components to putting together your soon-to-be-breathtaking backyard. You will need someone to help you gather materials from fencing, to stone tiles, to plants and seeds for flowers, and to put it all together for you.

Prepare Permanent Fixtures

The first step to backyard landscaping is incorporating permanent fixtures, mainly fences. Depending on how much privacy you would like, and where you live (rural vs urban areas), fencing may be necessary. Short, thick, white picket fences provide little to no privacy, but create a sweet and welcoming look to your backyard. Tall, stocky wood fences provide more privacy, and create an earthy and traditional feel. Typical metal chain fences aren't stunning, however have you considered the possibility of growing vines and roots from plants into them? This could create an exceptional 'garden of Eden' look where you are simply surrounded by walls of plant life. Last, but not least, the chic, classy black aluminum fences are applicable to any backyard landscape style without taking away from the look by drawing too much attention to the fence.

Another permanent fixture that you may want to include in your backyard is walkways. You can use cobbler stone or gravel paths or even brick to create your own yellow-brick-road around your backyard landscape.

Practical Planting

Different people have different ideas of what is practical and what fits into their personal lifestyle when creating their backyard. If you have young kids who like to play outdoors and use the open grass for sports, you should have less plant in the center of the backyard (place mainly along the perimeter), definitely get fencing, and maybe throw in a hot-tub for your enjoyment. If you are a newlywed couple, or have already sent your kids away to college, and gardening is a hobby of yours, consider paving walkways around gorgeous bundles of flowers and plants. That way you have easy access to watering and caring for them, and you have a beautiful walkway for others to tour and enjoy your backyard landscaping.
